George Springer and Jake Buchanan Get The Call To OKC:
Sunday, news broke via the Corpus Christi Hooks twitter feed that George Springer and Jake Buchanan had received promotions to AAA. Both guys absolutely tore up the Texas League, and earned their promotion. The Marc Krauss call-up created space for Springer in the OKC outfield, and the Seaton DFA, along with several doubleheaders in the near future, created room for Jake Buchanan and Brady Rodgers. Rodgers most likely will be headed back to Lancaster or Corpus after the stretch of several games is over, While Buchanan and Springer are most likely to stay put in OKC. The future is dangerously close with 3 of the top 4 organizational guys knocking on the door at AAA in Cosart, Singleton, and Springer. The excitement amongst fans in palpable, with the rebuild beginning to near fruition. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the likes of all three of them make September call-ups. Astro dominance is imminent. Here's a look at Springer's and Buchanan's numbers thus far...

Marwin Gonzalez Optioned to AAA, and LHP Wade LeBlanc DFA'd:
Today it was announced that the Astros had optioned Marwin to OKC, and LeBlanc was to be DFA'd(thank sweet baby Jesus). Luhnow talked with CSN Houston today regarding the moves. On Marwin, Luhnow had this to say.."Marwin as rule 5 selection, (other than his rehab stint last year) he never played AAA, he went straight from AA to the big leagues.....He's had a good year for us, I believe he's been a little overwhelmed recently, both ways, both offensively, and defensively....we felt like he could benefit from going back to Oklahoma City(AAA affiliate) and getting a little bit of the development time that he missed on his way up".
Regarding LeBlanc, Luhnow had this to say, "and Wade LeBlanc, we need that roster spot, you'll find out more about that tomorrow, and unfortunately last guy in is often the first guy out...we do have interest in keeping him in the organization."
It doesn't come as much of a surprise that Marwin was sent down, considering his recent struggles and the way the Astros handled another Rule 5 guy from last year, Rhiner Cruz, in the same manner. The whole "we need that roster spot" thing is pretty intriguing, and with the open slot at SS, the possibility of a Jonathon Villar call-up is incredibly badass, but also incredibly unlikely. Jake Elmore, who has swung an incredibly hot stick as of late to the tune of .342/.419/.474 over his last 10 games, will most likely receive the call. It will be interesting to see if Villar gets the call after Cedeno gets dealt, which if there's any market for him at all, he will be. As far as the spot LeBlanc leaves, I would assume a bullpen arm gets the call, and considering Peacock is already on the 40 man roster, it will most likely be him. You gotta let the Peacock fly. Luhnow did say corresponding moves will be made tomorrow so we play the waiting game.
