News leaked yesterday that three Tri-City Valleycats had been suspended for testing positive for amphetamines. The three include SS Jose Fernandez, OF D'Andre Toney, and 1B Michael Martinez. The most notable of the three, Toney, was the PTBNL in the Quintero/Bourgeois deal. There is no word on the length of suspension, but I would assume the standard 50 game fine will be given. Although they hadn't previously been linked to PED use, it doesn't come as that much of a surprise considering how all of the three were struggling at the plate this year. There is also no information available yet as to what specific amphetamine they were popped for. They will likely miss the remainder of this season and the start of the 2014 campaign.
