JJ Watt on Offense?

Could we be seeing this more often out of the reigning Defensive POTY?

If JJ was having it his way we certainly would be. Watt has recently expressed a desire to be involved on offense which has sparked many a fantasy in the minds of Texans fans everywhere. Just the thought of such dominance on both sides of the ball gives me chills. So many goal line sets with Watt lining up could be deadly. I can see it now, the bruising part-time TE who also happens to be the best player in the league on the other side of the ball.

"I've been lobbying since Day 1, Watt said, per the Houston Chronicle. "It hasn't worked yet, so I don't think it's going to work anytime soon, but it's (Kubiak's) team." We all know Kubiak is about as timid and closed minded as can be when it comes to NFL coaches, but I'm still holding on to the smallest bit of faith that maybe Kubiak will see the light.  Watt has been seen catching balls off of the JUGS machine throughout the offseason and he simply claims he's just trying to become a better all around "athlete." All of us here in Houston are aware of JJ's immense athletic prowess, but to what extent is still unknown by most of us. He showed us a glimpse of his overall greatness when he threw out the first pitch at an Astros game. Who knew he had such stellar form and a gun to boot?

There are certainly some logistics that would have to be worked out with a situation such as this and a lot of it is rather tricky. Do you really want to take that chance of putting him on that side of the ball? I'm sure there are many, many guys on defenses across the NFL that would love to have their shot at taking down THE JJ Watt. I can already see a harrowing knee injury coming to fruition just thinking about it, things don't look too well for JJ getting in on the offensive action. I honestly don't see it happening just because of Kubiak's coaching demeanor and all of the potential risks that would come with putting him in that position. That's not to say that I wouldn't love to see it happen still, even if only for a few series in the season! Come on Kubiak, let's see that "Wisconsion" package.

  1. I'd love to see him used how Bellichek used Vrabel
